help me spec a new dell laptop please ?

i currently have a dell inspiron 5160 laptop , bought a couple of years ago.
i believe the spec is
intel pentium 4 cpu 3.06ghz
1.83ghz 512mb ram

i'm wanting to buy my business partner one .. of similar spec.. (but 1024 ram)

BUT when i look at dell website , flyers etc ... i'm confused !

they used to be all about "celeron "... or ...the more highly rated
" intel pentium 4 .

but i'm not really seeing pentium mentioned now ?

on a flyer they have £500/£600 laptops with

AMD Turion 64x2 dual core mob tech
intel centrino duo mob tech 1.66ghz 2mb .. etc
there is a int pentium dual core 1.6ghz/533mhz 1mb
Mobile AMD Sempron TM Processor 3500+

etc etc .

i'm totally confused !! ... HELP !

i mainly use my laptop for email .. and lots of excel /word stuff on Office .. and occasionally want to copy a cd.
No gaming or downloading music etc .

Can someone advise me of what i need .. seems to be processor that i'm confused about.
Any "e codes" or ideas gratefully received !!
