Next job on list for those who've been helping me!
I'm trying to fix grandmas pc. Lots doesn't work. It won't play videos clips from the iphone etc. When it crashed last year I loaded the original start up discs we had when we bought it. It was bought in 2007 is the same pc as mine a Dell Dimension E521. Has never ever worked properly - must've been a friday afternoon pc! Not sure I can still send it back! It's crashed a lot recently and I just keep putting the start up discs back in. I don't know what version of windows my pc was running as I don't know how to find that out. Ive lent her my pc whilst I mess about with hers. Even tho I loaded start up discs it doesn't seem to have windows photo gallery on it or windows media player. Its got Vista home premium. I can't use my printer scanner Epson SX425W on it as it says its not supported by windows 7 which means windows 7 must be on grandmas but not on mine as it worked fine with mine. Any tips on where to begin will be appreciated. thanks.

Have you checked the website for Windows 7? Though the drivers should be on the software CD
" Operating Systems Windows XP/XP-x64/Vista, Win 7, Mac OS 10.4.11 or later "

why would windows 7 not support the epson sx425w ? weird that it supports my epson sx200, didnt even have to install the drivers for it. just connected the printer to the pc and it works.
go to the link santer posted, and make sure to change it to the OS installed.
if you have the same computer your grandma has, as in exactly the same model, why not use YOUR recovery cd's ?, as its a DELL computer it should have a hidden recovery partition built in. press F11/F10 at bootup it will tell you on screen.

afterwards, online update, remove programs not required, update codec pack for video/movies playback, firefox for webbrowsing etc.0 -
