how much shall I pay to get a solicitor to witness an affidavit?

I dont know if this thread is in the right place

I have been asked to make a witness statement that needs an affidavit to be signed by a solicitor

Can someone give me some idea of what I should pay the solicitor for this?

thanks

Surely the cost should be borne by whoever wants the statement. Ask the solicitor to send them the bill or get them to send the document to a solicitor of your choice to sign.

Last couple of times I have had to sign something in the presence of a solicitor, I have been charged £5 each time.

The cost is fixed by the Commissioners for Oaths (Fees) Order 1993: £5 per affidavit and £2 per attachment.

If the solicitor has to take the statement and prepare the affidavit it will obviously cost more, but if already prepared, as said already the fee is £5 (normally paid in cash....)

£5 to watch someone sign something? Bloomin eck, some people have to work for an hour just to get slightly more than that!

How does the person witnessing the signature know who the person writing the signature is ? For this process to be credible there has to be an ID check and records taken to prevent ongoing fraudulent activity.

    Re-skill to become a solicitor. :)

My couple of affadavits for my divorce cost me a fiver each. I can't recall anything being cheaper in the whole expensive saga.
