Mortgage PPI???

Hi every one!!
Need some help, my father been paying a "HSBC Life Ltd Mortgage Protection Plan" problem is he's been mortgage free almost 9 years?! For some reason he thought it was a life policy!?! Only recently cancelled Feb 2012.
To me this is a straight foward claim for mis-selling as i believe my father honestly thought it was a life policy tied into the mortgage as he would have cancelled the Life/mortgage plan if he knew otherwise 9 years ago.
This is the right type of mortgage ppi claim??
thank al__78

I can understand that as its HSBC Life and that means it wont be PPI.To me this is a straight foward claim for mis-selling as i believe my father honestly thought it was a life policy tied into the mortgage as he would have cancelled the Life/mortgage plan if he knew otherwise 9 years ago.
Sorry, I dont see that. How is it mis-selling? The person that sold it put it in place with the mortgage at the start. How can they be responsible for things that took place many years later? This is the right type of mortgage ppi claim??
It doesnt sound like PPI. It sounds like a product offered from a life company not a general insurer). It doesnt sound mis-sold as you have indicated no wrong doing by the adviser/seller.
Many people keep their life assurance running after the mortgage is repaid. It is not for the lender to decide that.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
