Can I Sell My Cupcakes?

I need to make a bit of extra cash pretty sharpish.
I have ebayed all that I can and on Sunday I am doing a Carboot with what didn't sell after being relisted 3 times.
We don't have much, so when I say I have nothing left I actually mean that literally!
I make wonderful cupcakes though, I often make cakes for gifts for people's Birthdays and things like that instead of presents and am always getting compliments.
I thought perhaps as a one off I could make up some Cupcakes and sell them alongside the stuff im selling at the Carboot on Sunday?
Is this allowed? If yes how much should I charge?
Thanks in advance

Do you have a Food Hygiene Certificate and Insurance in case one of your customers has an allergy to your food?A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

think you have to register to sell food with environmental health too0

Some car boot sales seem better regulated than others. I've bought cakes at a fairly unregulated one (by unregulated I mean that they turn a blind eye to alcohol, pirated DVDs etc) and the cakes sell very quickly due to their quality. I've no idea about regulations though. Cakes are sold at school fetes so how do the regs work here? You could ask at the entrance to one. The professional ones often charge more if you're a trader so you'd need to turn up with some cakes and other bits so as not to be classed as a trader.0

I recently bought a cupcake for charity at a large coffee chain, the cakes were baked by an employee and were far better than anything the store had ever sold, they had to point out that they were nothing to do with the items sold in the store, I'm fairly sure that if there had been a complaint they would have had to stop selling them.
To sell food baked at home you would have to have your kitchen checked and show all the ingredients when selling them (amongst other things), that said if the carboot people aren't bothered and the customers aren't bothered then you're unlikely to have a problem.
I think it falls into the category of "don't ask too many questions, thee may be too many answers"..0 -
To sell a decent cupcake that gets a decent price, it would cost you just as much in ingredients etc. Then you need to buy suitable packaging and also gloves and tongs to handle the cakes.
However, if you get round that problem, you then have the problem of tax, insurance, hygiene certificates, ingrdients lists, packaging etc.
Selling food is a PITA and so much can go wrong.0
