Do your parents details go on your marriage certificate?

Bit of an odd question.
I got the marriage notice forms yesterday to fill in and it asks for your parents details. I didn't think to ask the registrar at the time if these details go on the marriage certificate. Can anyone tell me please?
I haven't spoken to my father in 20 years and couldn't fill in all the details anyway. I re-registered my birth certificate in my mum's maiden name last year so I wouldn't have his name on it. Well worth the £55!

With us they asked for details of our father's professions, and they're on the wedding certficate, even though for both of us are dads died some years ago. The columns on the marriage certificate are:
Date of marriage
Name (bride and groom)
Ages
Condition (in our case both previous marriages dissolved)
Profession (of bride and groom)
Residence at time of marriage
Father's name
Father's profession
I don't think we were asked for details of mums but can't honestly remember. If we were asked they don't appear to have used that information.
In your case I'd have a word with your registrar and see what they say - there must be plenty of people who have no contact with father0 -
Yes your Fathers names go on the marriage certificate. We were both a bit miffed by this as neither of us are speaking to our fathersTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0

You dont have to have your fathers details on there, the registrar asked me if I wanted my dads on there and I said no.

The registrar just drew a line in the space where it asked for father's details on mine.
Seems there's quite a few of us with dodgy fathers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

OhWhen the Registrar spoke to my just before our Wedding and asked me if my father was retired and I said I wasn't sure as I didn't see him anymore she never said anything
Damn as both of us would have rather not had their names on it

Thanks for all your replies
It seems that it varies and that the registrars might be able to use their discretion in these circumstances. Hopefully the registrar won't put our father's details on it (OH has issues with his dad too).
We see the registrar in a few weeks so will keep you posted.......SPC 9 # 5360 -

That's a shame
Is there any way you can get it re-issued with those details taken out?SPC 9 # 5360 -

Can I suggest that you make a note of why you did this and leave it with your birth certificate - then in future years when your descendants are researching your family tree, they don't say "Oh - mum never told us about THAT!!"
We have a mystery in our family that no-one can solve, as all those involved or who may know are now dead, and I would love to know the answer!!0 -

I second this something happened in 1927 in my DH's dad's family and it resulted in the change of his surname which affects us. The registration people will only give details of the affidavit to people who were party to the change but as both died over 50 years ago we can't get any more info. As a family historian marriage certs have been used over the years to confirm the identity of the correct "John Smith" when there are a few people with the same name who could be siblings or cousins.0 -
