Trent Business Company - Likely scam?

Hi, I received an email from someone called Mary T. Blunt claiming to be from a company called Trent Business Company offering jobs in the UK.

It seems far too good to be true and while the website seems legit, it's pretty threadbare and I'm very skeptical about people emailing me out of the blue regarding jobs.

The email goes as follows :

Dear XXXX,

Trent Business Company looking candidate to fill position in UK:

-Account Manager(No Experience Required).

Salary/Year:

FULL-TIME - £22200+
PART-TIME - £16800+

Trent Business Company provide (Absolutely Free):

-Computer Training,
-Free practice,
-Exams,
-Tests and Study in UK with a trainer.

Candidate:

-All ages 18+,
-Strong English language skills,
-Willing to work start ASAP;
-Work individually and as part of a team.

Email back and We will send you an email with information on how to continue.

HR Manager

Mary T. Blunt
Trent Business Company

On further research between me and a friend, it seems that the company has copied news, details, etc from a legitimate company called Bridge Finance Group and passing it off as their own.

Anyone else run into these people and might have some more information? I'm pretty sure it's a scam.

Sounds dodgy, what email address did it come from?

Personally I always have a unique email address for each job site etc and thus can easily tell where people are getting my email address from. If I get something like this to my Travelodge email address (as I did a while back when they had a data breach) then I know it isnt right. If its to my Monster or LinkedIn one there is a better chance.

Yeah, you're definitely right, after posting this I looked into it even more and it seems there's a group of people going by various company names (like Financial Controller Group) using the details of Bridge Finance Group to make it seem legit.

Well, maybe this'll be useful for other people searching for this since when I googled it nothing came up, scam or otherwise.

Trent Business Company is a terrible name - for that alone, surely it can't be a real company!?!

(Besides, when did you last hear of a legit company spamming people to advertise a job?)
  • I got the same email too.. im guessing its because i registered at totaljobs.com ? Kinda annoying as i used my main email.. Sigh..

I replied to that first email and then they send me two documents to fill in and send it back.. tbh it doesnt look like the normal scams that i have encountered..

I dont wanna believe its a scam coz im in desperate need for a job!! sigh..

The who.is check on em shows that the site was registered 2 days ago.. so yea.. its a scam i guess..

Yeah I've received a couple of scams that were made to appear as if they'd come from totaljobs.com a few months ago actually, that site seems like it passes off emails to third parties.

Since when do you get £22,000 p.a for a job with no experience required?

Sorry but I would delete the email asap, smells like scam to me.

P.s also why has the company not got a checkable landline in the UK?
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun
