where is best to buy a LHD car?

Hi,
I and the family are permanently moving to the South of France in the next few weeks.
We will need to run two cars - either two people carriers, or one people carrier and a large estate, and being in the South we will need air con.
Currently we run a VW caravelle (which we all love) and a rover 75 estate.
Where do people think is the best place for us to buy a LHD car - If we were to sell our current cars in France, then the low demand for RHD vehicles would surely push the price down - does that work in reverse over here and is it therefore better to buy a LHD vehicle in the UK?
If not, then are there car supermarkets in France like over here?
We do not need new cars, however being slightly stupid in the mechanical side of things, anything too old and problematic will cause me major problems.
I have a friend who lived in France and owned a Chrysler and apparently parts and repairs were a nightmare
I have between 12 and 14k (pounds not euros) to play with for the two
Does anybody also have ideas about what I should / could be looking at over there?
Finally, are there any french comparison sites for car insurance - or better still any French versions of Money Saving Expert - I will be lost without MSE (my bible) that I have read religously for the last few years.
