craigpix i've got a renault clio N reg which has been a good runner but sometimes it won't start, i've been told that clio's are bad for having electrical faults and since its an older car could be likely
  • not a bad car check it has had the cambelt done at 5yrs or 72,000 and make sure you get two immobilizer keys

June - the Clio should be on its third cambelt by now if it's a 1995. At £500 you can't always insist on a second key either.

To be as helpful as I possibly can be, I'd say don't look for a particular car if your budget is less than about £1,500 - £2,000 as the condition of individual cars varies so much. You could be looking at something that's nearly mint, or which is a complete shed - and I'd much rather have a straight, well-looked after Clio than a tired Micra, regardless of the reliability of the "average" 90s Micra or Clio.

Just buy a suitable car of any model in the best condition you can find.
