this member is clearly a new member and has obviously googled their problem and came upon this thread.
jeezz!! what does it matter if it's an old thread?? sometimes the forum police on here can be downright rude. i don't get the hate sometimes, especially to new members.
honestly, and i'm being serious here, why does it bother people so much? does adding to an old thread keep folk awake at night or something?? does it take up valuable forum space? ok, so now i've added a totally irrelevant post and i'll get myself into all sorts of bother...."never look down on anyone.....unless you're helping them up"0 -

Have a word will you. Please point out where there is any "hate" in my post?
Quoting a thread from over a year ago won't get as much response as the poster starting their own, specific, thread.
So instead of ignoring them I thought I'd be helpful, seeing as they are a new user, and get them to post their own thread. Thus resulting in a much better level of forum participation and, ultimately, help.0 -
"hey there, thanks for your post, that's rubbish about your car, hope you get it sorted, would you be able to start a new thread for your problem? just go to the money saving expert home page, click on forums at the top right hand corner, then click into one of the sub-boards (e.g debt free wannabe) at the top left hand side you should see 'new thread'. you should get alot more response from other members that way
"........might have been nicer
i just found your post too direct, blunt and a bit superior, like "go away and don't annoy us more experienced members that know what they're doing!"
i got posts like this when i first started out, sarcastic and nasty, (not that yours was particularly either) and i see posts all the time having a go at folk for not sticking to their idea of the forum rules, then a moderator coming along and closing a thread because someone's googled a thread and added to it months later and it's deemed irrelevant.
obviously i'm over sensitive, but hey i just felt bad for the poster

You must be very over-sensitive. There was nothing in my post to suggest any sarcasm, nasty-ness or elitism. You extracted all that by yourself, obviously due to the experience you had.
Everyone is different, and, as such, has a different posting style. Just because you would use 100 words to say something that would take 10, doesn't make me wrong. Or nasty. Or sarcastic. I am just straight to the point.
This is the internet, not the best place for the over-sensitive. You read my post wrong and drew out a load of negative feelings that weren't there, or implied.0 -
yea - as i said your post was neither sarcastic or nasty - just a bit to blunt for my liking, nothing wrong with using 100 words when 10 could be used - saves people getting the supposedly wrong impression like i did :-)"never look down on anyone.....unless you're helping them up"0

"People" might not get the wrong impression though.
You're the only person who thought you'd pull me up on it. 1 out of how many?
Exactly.0 -
ahhhhh.....i just said 'people' not everyone :-)"never look down on anyone.....unless you're helping them up"0

he he ....let's chill on this and agree to differ - am off to have my coffee now; you're welcome to have the last word :-) xx"never look down on anyone.....unless you're helping them up"0
