Divorce Advice

Hello,

had my first letter from Solicitors today for a divorce. I am the respondant and my wife is the petitioner. We both consent to the dovirce on the grounds of 2 years seperation.

We got married in July 2007, seperated in May 2010, so the divorce will go through 1st May 2012 so to speak and we do not have any children. We agreed prior to the forms that i would leave the house and she would leave my pension.

In the D8 there is a Part 10 section that has the number (3) Financial Order and these are Ticked:

That the petitioner may be granted the following financial orders:

periodical payments order
lump sum order
property adjustment order
order under section 24B 25B or 25C of the Act of 1973 (Pension Sharing/Attachment Order)

My question is......Would i be made to pay anything and these phrases do worry me a bit? we were only married for 3 years and my pension is about £8k (i have no other capital) and her house has about £5k equity.

Can someone help?

I didn't think any wives got any maintenance just for themselves now. If you've sorted it out between you then it should be fine.

OP get the solicitor to draw up a clean break financial consent order, detailing what you and ex have agreed, to place before the judge. If he is satisfied it is fair he will make it official. That will mean neither of you will have any financial comeback on each other in the future.

Ok so everything went really well but i am yet to receive the bill.

She isnt claiming anything against me and I am not claiming anything against her.
I've had 2 letters, signed them and sent them back, they've applied for the divorce etc.

Anyone know how much it will cost?
