Does anyone know how to cut down on the extra charge Virgin are putting on calls abroad through Telediscount?
Would it be cheaper to use a phonecard?
I need to call France frequently and some of the lines will not accept Skype calls!

You could use 1899.com via their 0808 freephone number.

I recently made the mistake of calling my wife and children while she was visiting her family in Czech Republic from my T-mobile phone (the mistake was using my mobile btw) at the time I was unable to make the call from a landline as I normally do. When I received my bill from T-mobile I was shocked to discover that a 42 minute call that should have cost £6.30 had been increased by T-Mobile to £26.00! What should have been a 15p per minute call became a 61p per minute call. When I called them to complain, they just told me that the access code was a premium rate number. I am going to call them again.
Sorry I was't giving your response the thumbs down, it was representing my opinion of T-Mobile0 -

Try TopUpNow.
Works from a virgin landline. You call a £1.50 premium number to top up, then an 0800 number to make the call.
The 0800 number is free from your virgin landline, and France is 0p/min and 5p connection fee per call - so that £1.50 top up gets you 30 unlimited length calls to France!0
