Take a lavender plant, and cut as many 4 - 6 inch lengths from it as you can. Rub most of the side branches and leaves off, leaving the top inch or two with leaves on.
I have a plant outside on the street ... does it have to be a length that had the old flowers on it or not? ... They cut the flower bits off last week so I hope not. Thanks for the advice0 -
Rummer I want to move near you. Lack of rain has never been a problem here LOL!0

cuttings root best from non flowering stems, 2" and pressed into compost around the edge of a pot, keep moist but not wet.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Flowers not needed. Indeed, better cut off, so this would be ideal for cuttings.
Snip snip snip...............
Edit: (Sorry, Peter, didn't read down to your post; answered a quote from mine... runs in shame to potting shed.. have a "thanks" as apology!)

That's why I bought the pots. I do already have a lavender in the garden but it is getting leggy and woody and old and if I tried to take cuttings from it there would be nothing left of it afterwards worth growing. I may try digging it up and setting it down lower in the ground to see if it will rejuvenate, but I don't hold out much hope.If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
ive kept taking cuttings till between september and october as advised once and always works and i have never used growth hormone powder either
just took off the lower leaves and placed into compost :-)I love War Of The Worlds:heart2:

I filled 3 big milk containters with cuttings and a few have got green new growth starting, some withered, and most just stayed the same. I put them on the windowsill for a while then outside - maybe that's why they aren't growing because its very cold and we had snow & hard frosts. But it's not dead so still hope eh!0
