Any recommendations for a reliable / accurate one of the above please? Ideally looking for one that can be programmed separately for each day.

Does the wiring of the "sender" to the boiler have to be done by a "real" electrician?

    Honeywell CM range is well suited to combis...get in a RGI or DIY if you are competent.

    I have a Danfos RX2 with 2 Heating Zone RF controllers that are very programmable and it been 100% reliable (touches everything wooden around me including head) for the last 5 yrs!
