Ebay threatening legal action

My OH genuinely forgot to pay his last ebay invoice. He hasn't used ebay since and has had no communication from them whatsoever.
We were quite shocked when a threatening letter landed on the doormat this morning saying that a CCJ is being prepared against him, and will be served if he doesn't pay up immediately.
Can they take such action? A polite reminder would have prompted him to pay without the need for this.

Here I go again on my own....

If you go on to the comminity forums at eBay (top of the eBay home page) the regulars there will give you the best advice.
I would imagine its been several months if eBay are going down this route but if Hubby pays it now you may stop it.
They should have sent you a reminder but then this eBay we are talking about. They lose payment info all the time!0 -
That is rather strange. My flatmate hadn't paid his fees for months and had built up £70ish worth of them. All they did was suspend his account until he had paid themTitch
