Can anyone help re, reclaiming ppi

Hi,
Can anyone help? I had a river island store card that was with GE money that i had for 5 years and sure i was paying PPI.
This card was then taken over by santander but very soon after they dis-continued the card and asked everyone to pay back what they owe then it was closed. I dont have any statements from the card but was just wondering if i would get in contact with GE or santander as i believe now it is santander's debt, but surely if i send santander the letter asking for agreement, T&C's they wont have it??
