Have I Missed Something??

I'm selling a few odds and sods on Ebay, little bits nothing much and I have my postage at sellers standard rate £2.00. This pretty much covers everything. And I dont offer a discount.
I recently got an email asking if the buyer bought two of my items could I offer a discount.
I thought about it had a quick weigh of the items and emailed her back that I would offer a discount of 50p for the additional item.
That makes P+P £3.50 right??
I sent the invoice showing the amended P+P and at the same time received an email from the buyer requesting the amount, saying I quoted postage at £2.10!!!
Have I somehow misled the buyer (100% +FB) in a way I cant see or is she trying it on? £2.10 would not cover my P+P costs anyway. I don't add in for my time as I'm so close to a PO.
I haven't heard from her regarding the invoice and as she sent it promptly on the auction ending I'm pretty sure she's out there in cyberspace somewhere and has read my invoice.

Maybe she means £2.10 per item and it is just a typo for £2.00.
Personally I think a 50p discount is a bit mean though it does depend on the item.
I would probably have offered £2.00 for the first item and maybe 75p per additional item giving a discount of £1.25.
But it all depends on your costs and, if you believe 50p discount is fair then stick to that.
You are not obliged to offer any discount but it does encourage multiple purchases.

I would just write back to her politely and say that she must have made a mistake as you actually quoted 50p discount = £3.50 total charge.
I've had to stop putting anything about postage discounts on multiple items in my item descriptions because I've found that since the new pricing rules came in it's often no cheaper sending two items together than separately.
In fact, if it's something that can go as a large letter individually it'd probably be cheaper to send as two separate parcels anyway! :www: :: MFi3 ::

Actual postage (not including packaging prices) came to £3.71 so I don't think it was mean at all!
As I said I don't care about making money on the postage (though I'd prefer not to lose out) and most of my items come to, on average, £1.50 to post before adding packaging I felt it was a goodwill gesture. As my items are low priced anyway losing out on P+P by taking too big a discount is too much.
Anyway, it seems this buyer had asked for a discount elsewhere too and had 'misquoted' my pricing so problem solved.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
In that case any discount is more than generous. Maybe you need to charge £2.50 instead of £2.00.susplum wrote:Actual postage (not including packaging prices) came to £3.71 so I don't think it was mean at all! ...Anyway, it seems this buyer had asked for a discount elsewhere too and had 'misquoted' my pricing so problem solved.
I’m pleased you got it sorted.
