Water seepage under vinyl floor

My washing was leaking and I was not aware of it until I noticed carpet was damp in the corridor. The kitchen floor is vinyl and seems ok visually. I cannot see what's underneath as the person who did the flooring lay it on top of the old vinyl and it is quite level. I am a bit concerned of moisture underneath I was told I cannot do anything just give it time to dry. I have pressed the vinyl hard with my hands and cannot see any moisture coming out. Removing it will be a hassle but doing nothing can have a serious problem later on. Will it get mouldy underneath? The vinyl nor the damp carpet are smelly. The vinyl is quite level and there is no bubble or anything I can see to indicate there is water underneath. Can anybody help pl? Thanks

If there is water underneath the vinyl, you will see blackmould appearing. This won't happen immediately, but will happen in time. What is the sub floor made of? Timber or concrete? If it is timber, you should really pull the vinyl up to let it dry out.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

How far is the washing machine from the carpet?0

Thanks, the floor is concrete. If the vinyl is covering the floor, is there a way I could check whether there is black mould growing underneath. The washing machine is approx 1.5 mts from the carpet. Thanks0

You will eventually see the black mould as it eats into the vinyl and manifests itself as dark patches on the 'top' side of the vinyl.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
