Post Office Car Insurance

I have had my car insured for a year and received a renewal figure.
Is there anything to stop me doing a fresh quote via quidco as a new customer and see if I can get it cheaper?
Anyone done this?

Yes you are able to do this but dont forget to tell them athat you dont wish to go ahead with the renewal they have sent you or they could automatically renew it and cahrge you for that too.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

Well I wasn't able to. When I input my details, it realised who I was.
Was about to renew. Called up, nearly did it then was outraged when I found out they still had my credit card details from last year.
I had spotted this issue when the documents arrived last year and called them up about it. They had assured me that my details had been removed. This incensed me and I told the guy I wasn't going to renew with them after all and they had better not try to use that card.
Trouble is, I've cut my nose to spite my face coz that was the best figure I've been given.0 -
I've always gone back to previous insurers as a "new account" and got a much better offer than with the renewal, even when I was going through a local broker.
That said, I have been able to get MUCH better rates since joining this site! Thanks!
I was with the PO last year, via Confused, and got £50 cash back.
Went to their web site this year and it tells me that it has already sold me a policy and wouldn't even quote. Their renewal doesn't include the £50 and is about the same as others I can get with £120 back from Quidco, so guess where I am going this year?0 -

There's nothing to stop you still renewing the policy.
However, Post Office will keep your card details on file, as the "helpdesk" will not take the card details of an active policy, even if you pay upfront for the year. I was never given anything approaching an adequate reason why this is the case when I worked there. I was just told that "people can't have a policy with us, unless we have payment details online".
Needless to say people aren't really happy with that explanation.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
