We have not done anything yet, we have 28k spare, out of that we have to have emergency funds and the rest we can save... The appointment at halifax was useless really, we only are going there to be eligible for the draw, we have not yet used our allowances for this year yet.
Hi loady,
I've just replied to you on your mortgage & endowments thread.
I seriously suggest that you will be far better having an emergency fund in easy access ISA and pay the rest off the mortgage.
I have given a longer explanation as to why I think that on your other thread.
All the best,

But that's just me...
Not only you, me too. I put all that i have into real estate which is under construction now. And now saving new bulk of money for the next flat. I found a bank abroad and they pay 8.5% rate per year.0 -
Which hopefully does not go the same way as Icesave. Would also doubt you have any protection should they do so.
Yes this bank is very secure. Before putting money on it I checked it's actives. They look good very strong positions on investing in raw minerals mining, oil and gaz production. They also lend money for diemond and gold producers. Finally they have state protection if they fail, the state pay compensations.0 -

Please stop touting yor very unreliable advice to people who need real advice about their savings and investments.Mortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
Fixed Rate ISA 3.7% for 2 years with the Halifax for the draw if you can stick £5k away for 2 years they pay the same as mine and you get the chance of winning their "lottery" which probably amounts to slim to no chance.
Even if you don't choose Halifax, get the money into any cash isa before the 6th April deadline, then at least you can transfer it later. Miss that deadline and you've lost this years allowance.
I know nothing about investments though I do know not to trust any bank with investments. Use banks to save only.0 -
