Spike can I ask something since you are working at Assisi.

A friend's cat died last year after a long happy life. He had cancer and she spent a lot of money on his treatment but the cancer returned.

She lives in BT16, Dundonald. Went to the Cats Protection even had a letter from her vet stating she was a responsible owner and did annual vet checks etc. But because of her postcode they downright refused to let her have a cat.

Will Assisi let her adopt or do they ban certain postcodes too?

I asked today & the ASSISI do use a postcode checker but it's more of a data base of different things however they would take things like previous pets, vet's visits etc into account & may have to do a home visit but they would look into all of that before deciding either way.Best bet would be for her to pop down to see the staff & take it from there. As I said the CPL flatly refused me as I was in NIHE property despite me having Orbit for over ten years, but the ASSISI didn't.

I know there are numerous cats/kittens free to good homes on gumtree belfast. Have a friend who prefers to get them off there as she knows they are going to be saved in the same way as assisi.
Got two from Assisi and staff wonderful and no home visit needed.

We got our first cat from Assissi 11 years ago with no problems so when she passed away we decided to go back again. My daughters were aged 4 and 7 at the time and to be honest I got the feeling they were very relcutant to deal with us because of the children. We called in three or 4 times over a 2 month period (which was very difficult as I was on crutches and couldn't drive) On our last visit there was a pair we fell for and applied to adopt both. Got a call the next day to say someone else had adopted them. In the end we got a cat from Gumtree.

Just a quick update. We went to Assisi a couple of weeks ago and fell for Doyle, a big black and white male cat. He was very affectionate and our girls loved him straight away. We filled out the forms and they phoned us a couple of days later to say the vet had checked him and we could pick him up anytime. We collected him yesterday and he has settled in really well. The only downside is that he just wants to be cuddled all day long!

If you are thinking of a cat there are some lovely ones there that are just looking for a good home.

Congrats on that! I saw you when you collected him,you & your daughter,I was working in the feral unit down the bottom & it did bring a tear to my eye when he went,I got used to giving him a scratch when I passed his cage, but I'm so glad he's gotten his forever home!
    Thank you!:D

This is a photo I took of the big lad..
