Ryanair cancelling flights....

The difference between me driving to liverpool and me driving to stansted is about a further 120 miles each way and 2.5 hours. Working on approx £6ish per gallon and 30 to a gallon it works out to about £50 in fuel or can i claim the full distance each way which takes it up to about £70 in fuel.

Stick with recovering your extra cost if you do this.
I'd be just as happy if they said i could have another set of flights to a different destination now i know i can cancel the hotel without a problem

Well that would make it a great deal simpler for you and them. I am sure Ryanair would try to fit in in the circumstances. If that is your first preference, presume you would travel from Liverpool? Believe that it would be more difficult to claim travel costs if you are going to travel from a different airport to a different destination with Ryanair.

However, unless you choose something outrageous, am sure they would swap Ryanair flights for you to get rid of the problem.

I would be very happy if ryanair said to me i can have a flight to the value of the original flights plus a bit more for the trouble its caused.

I think it will either be quite simple or a massive fight - will have to see what happens when i call them in the morning!

Well in the end i managed to get ryanair to transfer my booking at no cost to a new destination with minimal fuss.

    Happy with the outcome.

I am in a similar situation. My flight was cancelled with at least 14 days notice. I have to take the alternative option which is from Stansted which is 150miles from the original departture airport. Due to the massive differences in flight times, it means i have to travel down the night before and may miss the last coach or bus the night of arrival back at Stansted as it gets in 45 minutes before the last train/coach departure. A refund would leave me out of pocket as i cannot claim on my travel insurance for the hotel as i was offered re-re-routing but Ryanair are refusing to pay for the costs to and from the new airport, which is going to cost £121 for travel and maybe one night in a hotel. Do i have rights to claim this back if i keep the reciepts? Thanks

Well done. It seems that you got the result that you were happy with and as important, without undue hassle. :)

Its not a good idea to post in three different threads - so why not delete two of the posts?

It actually worked out really well for me as i got the rimini flights dirt cheap and they allowed me to transfer at no extra cost to flights to lanzarote which should have be significantly more expensive.

That's a great result considering it's Ryanair. Did you manage to get the flights from/to Liverpool?

If you have accepted the re-route but failed to mention or get Ryanair's prior agreement i.e before you committed yourself to that re-route, you will have a major struggle with them as they will assume you have given tacit approval to the change - see the advice given to Blue Haddock earlier.
