The site is:
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
Quite easy to complete - just need passport details for everyone travelling and credit/debit card to pay $14 fee.
Ours were authorised on-line at the end after we had paid. Good luck Janice0 -
My esta came to £9.14
(I'm aware the exchange rate may differ for you but just so you have a general idea)0 -
Make sure you go to the gov site and don't pay over the odds by going through a 'helper' site.0

Make sure the flights and your passport are in the same name0

Its not a visa, its the "US Electronic System for Travel Authorization" so gives you the right to travel by aircraft or ship of companies on the approved carrier list http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/87163.pdf to the US.
It doesn't give you the right to get past the nice gentle(wo)man at the desk. Saying that neither does a visa.
As already stated,
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
is the site.
Post that up often enough google, and people in general, won't feel the need to go through companys that charges on top of the $14 fee.0
