Google Spreadsheets/Open Office/ Works

Hi. I would like some advice please. I have works not excel and want to down load spreadsheets from MSE to have a go at matched betting. I've not been able to do this with Works.
Would downloading open office or google spreadsheets be the answer?
If so is it easy for a non techie bod to do? I would appreciate any pointers or advice.

If i read this right there are excel sheets on the web you are trying to d/l and work with?

If this is the case the best way is probably open office, it is compatible with most of MS office functions and best of all completely free for the whole suite!
