Anyone know why people who buy their council house are entitled to up to £75,000 off the market value?0

not sure why you posted that in this thread but I do agree...right to buy should just be stopped.0

I know this has gone off topic but I'll say my bit. Whilst I do feel these huge discounts on right to buy are not right, I am not totally against the scheme with much smaller discounts.
Fundamentally there is nothing wrong with this sort of scheme IF it is done properly, in that the stock that is sold off is replaced by new stock.
This was the problem with the scheme in the past which is why it has helped create some of the mess we face today in that the stock that was sold off was never properly replaced, therefore it only contributed to the housing shortage we have today.0 -

Market value is open to question in the current economic climate.
The reason is to release capital to enable funding of a building programme.
Home ownership at the right price is beneficial to the economy as a whole.0 -

Like I said I asked an expert to source my mortgage as I am clearly not knowledgeable enough to do it myself. I would expect him to point out the difference between the three types - he didn't.
Mate, it's nobodies fault but your own.
Winging that the SVR has gone up when the base rate hasn't is a straw man. What if the base rate had gone up - where's does your flaccid argument go then?
You are responsible for the contracts you enter into. Not me - not the expert - not anyone else. YOU.
I can only imagine you are busy blaming everyone else because you can't face the horrifying thought that you have deep down that the responsibility or "blame" actually lies with you.0 -
this will be my last post on this thread as there seems to be a lot more nastiness than advice, good luck0
