Body work repair

Hi,

I have taken my car into the local Ford dealership to have the paint worl repaired. This took 3 days . When I received it back the finish was awful. They said they would have it back in. I have finally managed to get them to provide a courtesy car, but they are saying it would be better on my insurance as the excess is £500.

My two questions are

1) Would I be liable for the excess in the event of an accident of the garage? (bearing in mind that if they ad done the job right in the first place I wouldn't need the car)
2) How many attempts do they get to get the repairs right?

cheers
Rich

    Hiya,

    1) Yes. The excess liability on a courtesy car is a separate issue to the work done (or not) on your car. Your only hope is to persuade the garage to cover the excess themselves. If you do, make sure you get it in writing.

    2) I'd get a written agreement from them that they get this one chance to put it right, or you take it elsewhere at their cost.

    Good luck!

  • Tried twice to reply to this now, forum is getting worse.

Ask for a discount on the paint job,a dealer should not have sent it back to you if it was not right.Arrange your own insurance ,some excess charges, are up to a grand!!,NOT WORTH RISKING,your own company should do it for very little if you are a good risk.
