Just ordered all sorts from the Book People - one of the girls at work gets a catalogue and I can't resist!!

Ordered a book on watercolour flowers, herbal remedies and a set on self sufficiency skills.

I have been collecting cookery books since 1971, as well as recipe cards and recipes cut out of magazines and newspapers.

I have a Marguerite Patten box of recipe cards that are indexed, that I was given by my first MIL in 1971.

I've books by older time chefs and up to date chefs and even have 4 new cookery books sat right next to me on the sofa now.

I've won them in competions and bought them "dirt cheap" off the internet.

Is there a "cookery books anonymous group" anywhere?:eek::eek:

I got Tana Ramseys baking book and a copy of one I've already got for my mum for mothers day!

My dh now insists on a 1 in 1 out rule but I am insisting that if I do that then he has to do the same with his sci fi! Don't think those bookshelves are going to get any lighter somehow! ;)

My OH is a pianist and whenever we moved house I used to say that my books weren't a problem, as they didn't weigh nearly as much as his piano. I've stopped saying that now as I have a horrible suspicion that my books are catching up ...

Yeah Dan Leppard (or Def Leppard as I keep calling him!) is fab, made two cakes out of the book now, the butterscotch banana cake (Twice, second time I made the caramel lighter) which is fantasic, and today at work I made the hazelnut and caramel layer cake, which was pretty fab, but I think next time I'll make about 50% more icing...but the flavour and texture of the cake was amazing.

I don't have many cookbooks (about 5), but I think I could become an addict....

A couple of things I'm doing:
    1) I bought a cookbook as an Xmas present. I am going to photocopy a few of the recipe's I want to keep for myself before I wrap it up.
    2) If i want a specific recipe, I will look it up online. I also collect the recipes from magazines and those recipe cards that supermarkets give out. That way, I only have want I want/need.
    3) I bought a blank recipe book for my sister (for Xmas 2012) and I'm planning on filling it up with recipes of things she will actually want to cook.

Buying and owning lot's of cookbooks is not an addiction it is a necessity
(and I must confess to owning over 200)
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you
