Hi i have been using the food co-op in Cardiff (fairly new one in Albany road Church opposite the Claude public house.)
These food co-ops are all over cardiff and I from the website lots of parts of Wales.
There are various orders, you place your order one week then collect the next. Anyone can order, I believe they accept homestart vouchers too.
A canvas bag of fruit is £2.50 there is usually 4-6 of apples/oranges/nectarines/kiwi/pears
they also can include bananas/pineapple/ satsumas/grapes its fab value!!:T
There is a veg bag usually u get turnip/swede, potatoes,carrots,oinions,sprouts,cabbage & parsnip
Also a salad bag and stirfry bag which includes beansprouts, ginger and garlic along with mushrooms and veg!! All for £2.50 per bag, there is a stew pack bag too.
Have a look at the following link for rural regeneration, click on your area and decide which one to visit. Just turn up and pay for your order then collect the following week.
The Albany rd one is on a Monday 10.30 am - 12.30 am its new so may not be on the list yet.

Hi, I clicked on the link and entered port talbot into the search but it doesnt come up on east or west wales, however other areas come up I am not brilliant at spotting what is the nearest area to you sorry. Have a look and see, if its definitely not in your area, email the rural regeneration and ask whether they are starting one, they may just need interest and volunteers
Still finding ours a godsend, makes me use it all up too,
Good luck!Life happens when you are busy making other plans

I keep meaning to use the one at the top of my road (although according to the list it's now gone) but they all run during work hours. It's a shame because I could really do with using something like this to help save money on my food bills, but I can't get to any of them while they're open.£2012 in 2012 - £13810

The Community Food Co-operative Programme in Wales, delivered by the Rural Regeneration Unit, currently has around 350 co-ops running across Wales from schools and community venues.
The food co-ops are not for profit and run by wonderful volunteers. Healthy start vouchers can be used as long as the supplier of that co-op is registered - most are.
Anyone can use a co-op although sometimes some schools have restrictions to just parents or staff due to having strangers on the school grounds. It's a simple system where you go to order and pay in advance for your bags then you collect and order the following week.
As one of the previous post said, you can have a look at the Rural Regeneration Unit's website where there's a co-op finder plus the details of the Food Development Worker for each area.
Enjoy
