Halifax - do they allow you to pay several bags of coins to current account?

Just wondered if anyone has tried to pay in several bags of coins to their current account recently...? I have about £400 of £1 and £2 coins that I'd like to pay into mine but I don't want to lug them into town just to be told they won't accept them. I tried to pay some into a Nationwide account a while back and they wouldn't accept more than 2 or 3 bags I think - unless it was to a charity or a child's account.
I have thought about phoning them but was thinking that their call centre staff might not know.

Halifax used to have a 5 bag limit, but I think they've ditched it recently.

Call the local branch and ask?

It actually never occurred to me that in this day and age you'd be able to get a phone number for a branch - but you can and I did! They've advised that there'll be no problem paying that amount in, as long as the coins are bagged up correctly.

    Hurrah and thanks!

How do you get a number for a particular branch? I want to book an appointment to open an account, but it's not local so I need to ring.
  • 10 bags per day :)

Go on their website, then select branch finder at the top, put in the town/postcode and it will bring up a list of branches in your area.

Select which one you want and hey presto, there you go!

That gives you the address of the branch, but not a telephone number.

Yes it does - click on the name of the branch, and it gives the telephone number and opening hours.

The key part was when I then mentioned to select the branch you want.......which opens up a page with a map, opening times, and phone number :)
