Can I claim? Egg Credit Card historical PPI

Hi all -

I had a problem with Egg Credit cards around 2001 - 2003 -
I noticed back then that they were charging me PPI on my account when I had expressly and deliberately not requested it when I took out the card. When I challenged them about it on the phone back then, they said I had agreed to it over the phone (which I hadn't) - I wrote to them asking them to produce the recording of the call in question to which they wrote back and said basically go away, and the matter is closed (and the write to the FOS if I wanted to take it further) - I did not do anything about it then... but now I am wondering if I can dig this issue up again? -

Can anyone advise - Is it too far in the past?
