Ceilings plastered & house creaking last night!

A couple of days ago we had all the ceilings in the upstairs of our house plastered. They are therefore in the process of drying (slowly!).
I was woken up last night by the sound of quite loud creaking (almost like there was someone in the house which freaked me out!). Does anyone know if this is connected to the plaster drying (it seems too much of a coincidence!) i.e. are the ceilings (whilst in the process of drying) expanding and contracting slightly or could it be that because the house is quite damp due to the newly plastered ceilings, the floorboards had swollen slightly and now the ceilings are slowly drying, contracting back to their original shape? Any thoughts?
Thanks

any cracks in the plaster? might have been that0

It's your floorboards. Plaster does not creak – it cracks.0

No, no cracks in the plaster, not that I can see anyway! I am wondering whether it was the floorboards, perhaps with all the moisture in the house caused by the plastering of ceilings the chipboard floorboards had swollen slightly and were then subsequently retracting back to their usual size. We did move all the furniture out of the rooms and then back in again after the ceilings had been done so perhaps that contributed towards the floorboards making the noise0
