I today received my final bill from EON after moving to British Gas.

This has been estimated and while the gas is correct the electricity has been over estimated.

I have written down my opening readings with BG

How can I get tis re-issued with correct readings on bill which I will then pay.

I WONT PAY THIS OVER ESTIMATED BILL AND HAVE CANCELLED DIRECT DEBIT.

I phoned your call centre but was rudely cut off by agent.

Advise ?

    Hi scotslad,

I’m really sorry that we cut you off when you called the other day.

We can easily sort the meter reading out, we need to raise a dispute with your new supplier to make sure that we both use the same readings.

If you call us back, with the reading your gave to British Gas and an up to date meter reading, we’ll get in touch them and make sure that it’s sorted out.

If you’d rather speak to British Gas about this they can take care of it from their side too.

It might take us a few weeks to put right but we’ll put a hold on your account until we send you a correct bill.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.:)

I have the same problem too. Sent a demand for £500 without a breakdown of how it was arrived at. My account was passed to the rude and unhelpful UDS and I am just getting nowhere fast. Eon are terrible and still causing me trouble even after I left due to bad service.

I have a friend who is with STAYWARM. St the end of October they increased her monthly payments to £101 + She is elderly and lives in a 2 bedroom flat with economy 7 heating. She had She was paying £79 per month so this was a large increase for her. She previously got in problems with changing suppliers where she was paying 2 Energy companies and it took many months to sort this out.

She came to me and I had looked at the possibility of changing from Staywarm but to EON. She came to my home and I was with her when the woman on the telephone told her that she would be better paying the £101 per month at least for the winter month. Can I just say that this woman reads her meter every week and in fact read it every day for many months after the problem whe had previously.
Whilst she was here I spoke to your SW Rep as well as she did. She was told to call back in February as she could then go on to a special lower tariffe. I suspect that she may now be 80? as she discussed age etc with your Rep. Birthday was on the 24th Feb. I returned from holiday on the 6th March .
She tells me that she called EON and did not speak to the same person but she has been told that there is no such tariffe. I am only assuming that the tariff suggested was depending age as she was told to stay on the STAYWARM until then.
She is now looking at changing her supplier and has asked me to have a look at things for her. She has used a helpline and they have suggestec OVO Energy to her. I have not as yet looked at any comparison site as I too am disappointed and angry that she may have been misled. She could have changed to EON on a cheaper tariffe but she was so worried about getting into arrears. Can I say that this friend is so concerned about the cost of electricity that she is scared to put her electricity on eg She has an electric shower and only puts her immerser on when her cleaner is coming which is once a fortnight. She has 1 large and 1 small storage heater in her lounge a small one in her hall and a very small one in her bathroom. She has no heating in either of her bedrooms or kitchen. I tried to tell her that whether she uses the electricity or not she is paying this large amount . A neighbour who lives in the flat above her is paying under £50 per month.
As she reads her meter herself she was obviously been able to give Ovo a reading and they have told her that she should pay £60 based on her use. I am using this forum where very good advice and information is given by many on these boards.
I look forward to what you may have to say about the conflicting information. She is now saying that she is tired of all the stress and worry she is experiencing and she now no longer trusts EON

    Hi Susan,

I think I gave you advice previously about Staywarm. I think using Staywarm over the winter period was a pretty good plan and would have at least provided security from any sudden shocks.

However, the increases were ridiculously high and you are right to switch Supplier now, remembering a switch may take 6 to 8 weeks.

Please use a comparison website, maybe Uswitch, and use Kwh annual consumption. It will tell you best deals and may well beat the OVO quote.I am happy to give advice on what shows up as I am sure others are.

I certainly wouldn't recommend Eon for your friend. They have an absurd policy of always trying to get your account into a zero balance position by the spring. Not too bad for a customer joining now but it still results in penal payments if they increase prices or your consumption changes. It is also becoming evident from anectdotal evidence on the Forum that Eon's Customer Service is diminishing.

Thanks for the info. It turns out that my friend had called a phone no in Thomson Local. The add looked like it was a local set up. She was told that OVO was the best for her. She then told me that she had given her banking details which they said they needed. She said that this was a Harrogate company. On further investigation she gave me the telephone which was an 0800 no I called them to find it was Energyhelp line she had spoken to. She had no idea and I was concerned in particul when I found out that she had given her banking details. She was told that the price would be held for 7 days and that they would not use her bank details should she decide not to go ahead with the switch.
A couple of years ago she got into a situation where she was paying 2 companies and in view of this whilst OVO were not the cheapest the difference was only around £37 plus she could have paper bills for an extra £20. She will just go with OVO and I think for her it is the best decision, On my advice she did call Eon but they told her she was on their best package other than online. I trust that the advice I have given her may be the best option for her. My worry was that she had no idea of who she was switching with. Thank you for your advice and as I am elderly myself I do value the advice on these forums which help me as well as many of my friends who ask me for information knowing that I have a computer.

    Susan,

We can only give advice. If you choose not to follow it, that is your choice.

It is extremely doubtful that this is the best price or arrangement for your friend.

I would cancel it immediately while there is still time.

Use a Comparison website. If you want my help or other posters please post the consumption details for gas and elecricity in Kwh and the area you live in.

    :)

Thanks again and I totally agree with you but you don't know this friend. Her Husband who died around 10 years ago was an Accountant but she would not listen to any advice he tried to give her re finances. She simply didn't want to know. She has now decided that this is the way she wants to go and I don't to push her as she simply does not listen. She is gullible in that she insures everything including an electric shower kettle etc She is every Retailers dream as she is scared that she won't be able to get a plumber etc. The shower she has is now 10 years old and she is wasting money as she takes the extended guarantee on everything. Nothing any of us say can make her see she is wasting money! She lives in a small 2 b/roomed flat and fear is what dictates the decisions she makes. I am grateful to you for the information and advice given.
