Gas and Electric Arrears - Unaffordable
Hi all,
New here! Im 24 and bought my first house 2 years ago. Last summer me and my ex partner sepereated and as a result I ended up spending an awful lot in solicitor fees and buying a new car as she took the old one etc...
All of our bills were in here name and when she left she had them all cancelled and my gas and electric was changed too quarterly payments.
I received my first bill for £513 last week and being in my financial mess I cannot afford it. After all of my bills and utils go out each month im left with £150 to last 4 weeks.
Im out of my house 12 hours a day and its a small 2 up 2 down, Is there anything I can do to prevent a mark against my credit score and where I can arrange to pay it?
I tried to set up a monthly payment plan but it would have been 120 a month which is still unaffordable.
I was told I can cry 'fuel poverty' and ask a gas meter and electricity meter to be installed, is this true?
Thnaks

You can get pre-pay meters fitted - in fact you may have no option but get them fitted. However the meters will be set to 'claw back' your dept.0
