Freeview reception improvement after switchover?

Hi,
I live in an area that hasn't yet turned off the analogue TV signal. I understand when this happens, they can crank up the digital signal. At present there are many Freeview channels I can't get - I'm not that far from the transmitter but I'm in a bit of a dip so I don't think there's a clear line-of-sight. I don't watch much TV so haven't bothered doing anything about it. I was a bit gutted when I couldn't watch Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 8 on More4 last year though!
I'm just wondering what improvement others who were in a similar situation experienced after switchover?
Thanks.

In my case we went Digi in June/July everything got better , then in Oct/November they switched Norfolk too and lost
some of the Channels from Arqiva (Film 4 , Yesterday et al) not expecting it to get better til June this year . There are a couple of sites worth checking on, http://www.aerialsandtv.com/sudburytx.html and http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=TL913377 ....these are for my transmitter but they may cover yours too

Blimey we went digital in May 2009.
There is a chance that you will never receive some channels. if you get your signal from a main transmitter you should be o.k. but if you are using a local relay station then for some reason these do not always transmit all the mux (es?). E.g I'm 500m from a relay (overloads FM) and would not get ITV4, Quest etc, it's missing A,C and D. However I use Stockland Hill 20 miles away and get 104+ channels.
    Move along, nothing to see.

depends on the transmitter and aerial

When my analogue was turned off, some of the digital channels were moved to outside my aerial group, so I would need a new aerial to get them. So far I've coped without 5*, 5USA and QVC.

Prior to the switchover, it was always hit and miss with reception of channels like ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 (and their 'plus ones'). Annoyingly, most of the shopping channels and some of the other ITV offerings were ok reception wise, but no good when what you want to watch or record is on the main channels! I also found that using the programmer for timed recordings on any channel was a waste of time, as the signal quality was insufficient to carry the 'prompt' to turn the channel on at the correct time.

Since switchover, things are much improved and I get the full range of channels broadcast from my local transmitter, all good quality and signal strength.

We were switched over last summer and initially lost alot of the ITV channels, IIRC we got them back after another re-tune about a month later.

Our main problem now is that when anyone's mobile 'phone is connected to the internet it interferes with Film4 and other associated channels, rendering them unwatchable :(
