They do get quite aggressive if you dare to refuse them - I kept getting similar calls when I initially set up...one claimed to be a local newspaper and they were quite vile and told me that I had agreed to something which I hadn't..they didnt like it when I agreed to see them in court.
I would be inclined to have a chat with trading standards too because they may be able to advise especially if you have details from them e.g phone numbers etc.
I have a policy now and never buy anything from anyone who cold calls me or turns up on my doorstep.0 -
Same company called me about the antibullying thing and asked now that I've had time to think about it since the first call would I be interested. I told them I had never heard anything about it and they strongly insisted they had phoned previously. I strongly insisted they had not and then she said "oh ok, would you be interested anyway?" and I said no thanks. Unfortunately she accepted that and gave up - shame really because I love having arguments with these type of companies but she obviously wasn't up for a fight on that occassion!!0

OP make a plan for where you want to advertise - if at all - and stick to it. It sounds like money is tight so you don't want to waste money. There are plenty of people out there offering genuine deals and it is easy to be taken in by legit offers such as last minute newspaper space. However if you haven't thought out your strategy these deals aren't very cost effective.
I tell all advertisers I never advertise (which is true). They then usually give up immediately. If you show some interest you can easily end up with useless deals for Yellow Pages, newspapers and that sort of thing. Ad reps are professionals at taking your money.0 -
OP, well done on dodging this one - doubtless they will try a few bullying calls, they can be safely ignored, phone hung up on them etc., they will go away and try to bully someone else instead.
Fact is, whilst it may appear to be about £114, you can pretty much bet they would sign you up on their suckers list and try to hit you with more, similar offers. And you would find that they somehow automatically assumed they had approval to relist you on the next terms posters, and the next terms... Some of these companies will even paste your ad at the other end of the country in completely unsuitable (where they even exist at all) publications, and even fake newspapers. That £114 would most likely have been the start, not the end of it, so well done you for checking up!0
