wireless mouse not always responsive.

I use a wireless mouse and after a period of a minute without use or so it fails to respond. The batteries have power(tested with battery meter) but mouse does not respond without switching off or re-inserting. This also ocures with a different wireless mouse on my Netbook.

What is the solution to this annoying problem?

Are they two different models, or the same model mouse? If it were just one mouse it was happening with, I'd be tempted to say that it's either not got a good signal/reception (from the usb dongle, to mouse) But if it's two mice, I'd almost say its something blocking it signal wise. Does it happen when both mice are used at the same time?

It sounds like there's a sleep mode, most mice have them that are wireless, else it just eats the batteries. I have on mine, but it wakes up with a click on the mouse button. Maybe that's how they turn back on?
Are they cheap mice? branded mice? sometimes in the past with very cheap wireless mice I've had issues with them just basically not being overly good. Intermittently cutting out, but not after a time of being used, usually whilst being used.

When I was experimenting after getting a wireless mouse (microsoft blue track 4000) and finding it somewhat unresponsive, I found the following:

They need to be within a couple of feet of the receiver if they use bluetooth. I think you can be a fair bit further if using a normal one that you sync manually.

I also found that having my mobile phone near the mouse would cause interference and make it seem that it wasn't working.
