Used my Sony Sat Nav on Saturday for the 1st time and after putting in my sister's postcode it took me right to her door. On the return journey I put in my postcode and everything was fine till about 10 miles from home when it wanted me to turn left into Morton village whereas I knew Bourne was straight on. I ignored it and the whole way home it kept repeating "do a U turn" "turn around" etc.
I now dont trust it. Has anybody else had such an experience or offer any advice? The postcode was correct.

My mitac does the same sometimes, especially if I know where I am going and I know I can avoid traffic by going another way. I dont know the geography of where you live, is it possible to have got to Bourne throuh Morton, also if i set mine for quickest route it takes me the longest (traffic congestion) so I know the longest route for me is the quickest.Daft I know!!!
I have nothing better to do!!!!

There are lots of variables with SatNav systems (Fastest, walking, shortest etc.)
Some things you will learn though are these,
Satnav systems will get you to your destination. It may not be the quickest.... but it will get you there eventually.
Never put your complete trust in them as they do occasionally try to send you the wrong way up one way streets and the wrong way back up slip roads etc.
They are only as accurate as the installed map they are following. Check for updated maps.0 -

Hi Lesley
I have the Sony NavU, and also found it can be a bit quirky just the same as Nav man and TomTom, the best thing I found is to go to the Show route button after setting the route and just have a quick look for anything which doesnt seem to fit in.
I had a trip recently of 25 miles where I had put in the postcode and High street address, I started navigation and then after 15 miles it started wanting to join a motorway which was wrong, when I searched the route I found another road with the same name and the same first 4 digits of the post code. I.e both started SL10 and both high street?
I was asked to do U turns until I switched it off, if only the wife was as easy to deal with :rolleyes:0
