Don't know if we had PPI at the time how to check?

Hi MSE forum!

The wife and I had various credit cards in the past, we also have at the moment an unsecured loan tied in with our mortgage payment, how do we check to see if we had PPI for each of these credit cards?

do we need to look at our own credit histories? such as using a site like credit expert? then contact each company directly to ask if we actually had PPI in the first place?

then use the template letter from this site to send to each company (if we had PPI for each product?)

is this the best way to go about it?

with thanks,

Zorg.
