Waiting times to enter games is very slow and once in games I keep getting kicked out despite having 4meg braodband.

This is most likely due to the hosts connection. Just as an example using Gears Of War, if the host has a slow connection, then it will take long to connect and if the host leaves then your connection be lost

    Dear Readers,

In November 2006 my wife purchased an XBOX 360 for a Christmas present, last week my system seized and I got the three lights known as the 'ring of death'.

I called the 800 number last Saturday and spoke to someone who did not speak very good English but he did the best he could...bless him. He told me that they would send out paperwork so the unit could be returned and then I would have to call UPS for a pick up.

The following Monday morning the door bell rang and it was UPS standing there waiting for my Xbox.........huh, I said? Like a madman, I dashed up to my office and grabbed my Xbox that I had fortunately boxed up on Sunday ready to receive my documents. A little inconvenienced, but just glad it was on it's way so soon.

Today I received the unit from UPS, and I was delighted to find a brand new unit with my old hard drive so nothing was lost.

My only concern is that the 1 year warranty expires on November 2007, but I have started from scratch with a brand new unit. I called customer service to speak to yet another person with 'no good English', and kindly informed her of my disappointment that I now had another unit, but with a slightly smaller warranty.

Could she possibly give me 6 more month's on the warranty so I could start again with the new system that I just received? 'So sorry, Microsoft policy say no, but you can purchase new warranty......'

Obviously, my fear is that this unit will cough up dead bugs and do the 'ring of death' thing right after the warranty is up, and I'll be hit for a fee to fix it again, so now I am nervous when I turn the unit on.

I almost feel like setting up a household fan to blow cool air into the side while I play with the Xbox. I wonder if it will qualify for disability allowance and I can have someone from the Home Office come out and fan it for me? Poor little Xbox......

Seriously, I am happy to have a new unit, and I feel strangely happy that my Xbox died before the warranty was up, but do I deserve a full warranty again?

Only problem is Ill lose a lot of my saved data!!

Ill give this one a go and see how i get on.

i took my console back to gamestation with no problems at all, i explained what happened and they gladly swapped it, is there another GS you could get to say on your day off(that you can get 2 easily enough), you dont give em your hard drive, if you mention that you have left your HD at home they will open the new box up and remove the HD from it, ive had to return 2 machines due to the crashing,im on my third console and its been good so far, if you are looking at buying a router there is a site set up by a guy who can help, theres forums and guides for you as the user to use, its http://www.xboxlivetheguide.co.uk, also try the official xbox forums at https://www.xbox.com

ps do you have the 360 in a well ventilated area
