mortgage payment protection advice

Would welcome some advice on mppi please. We took out a mortgage in 2002 as this was our first mortgage and we were quite young we just took the advice given to us and we were told to take out mppi (32/month), life insurance with critical care insurance and income protection. We have been wondering about the mppi for a few months and had a meeting yesterday to discuss out mortgage with the HSBC bank manager. We asked him about our income protection and mppi . He advised us to look into it further as he said it didnt really make sense to have mppi and income protection as the income protection will pay the mortgage if you are unable too. Should we try and reclaim the mppi?. Advice greatly appreciated!.
