Brilliant (not) just had Bt open reach engineer ring me

BT: where are you? I am at your house to install a line.
Me: No your not, where exactly
BT: at xxx adresss.
Me: I live at yyy address that’s my old house.
Me: Can you some round to yyy?
BT: I’ll have to cancel it.

Apparently SKY has 3 address databases to change and they missed the SKY / BT openreach one, and they won’t contact me for 2 days to make another appointment.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Why did he cancel for? Thats just stupid. Unless it was in another town or city.
    Anyway -

What address do they have on your account?
What address does the ROYAL MAIL have for you? (Check on the site)
IF RM have your old address, then you should have had this updated by the coucil Etc and it in understandable that the BT Engi went to the wrong address.

No. Sky dont give them the address. They go from another database. This database is linked with RM. The safest way to make sure your service and your engineer will arrive at your address is to always check your details against RM. Especially if youve had different address and move houses etc.

Its a bit silly how this address thing works. It could be that Sky DO provide the address and gave the wrong one. It could be that Sky missed the address change (as OP mentioned)

But RM will have your upto date address and I bet the engineer went to the address RM have.

I wont deny your statement custardy i just cant be asked to change my first sentence, like i say, they have many ways of working. I should know ;)

    OP - Complain!

What are you talking about? Do you seriously believe that Royal Mail has a database of addresses with occupants names* associated with each? They don't. They have a database of addresses and their respective postcodes. That's all.

    * The Data Protection implications would be horrendous (the legal duty to store only up-to-date data etc.).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    !!!!!! am i talking about???????
Effects of my drugs are wearing off now lmao!

You only check Rm to see if a particular address is registered with them. Usually used for flats.

If Flat A is registered but Flat B isnt. Then no one other than BT can come to fit in BB and HP.
    Ignore meh other posts!
