Sound Driver

I have no sound on my PC, I think the driver may have been corrupted as I checked as per the advice given in this forum.

I need to download a new driver - the PC is quite old though, I remember someone recommending "driver magic" but I have searched for this site but can't find it.

Any one help?

If your operating system is Windows XP go to Start --> Run and type in dxdiag and OK. Look in the Sound tab to see if your soundcard is showing there.

You will need to know what sound card / sound chip you have.

Try looking on the system builders web site (if Dell, etc), else you'll need to open the box.

Look on www.driverguide.com, which is free to sign up and use.

WORTH A TRY;
In Device Manager try deleting the sound card and then reboot. Will (usually!) find the card and reinstal the drivers.

If you go into Sounds and Audio devices, click Advanced, has your Wave slider been set to minimum? Something keeps setting mine down and have to reset it regularly.
