Beware - Stowmarket Selling Door to Door

A man is currently trying to sell stair lifts in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk.
He claims to represent an organisation called STEPS and prospective customers are first called by phone and told they may not be receiving all they are entitled to because of Government cutbacks and that they will receive a visit.
A few days later a man will arrive on your doorstep calling himself Billy Dogherty (or similar). He claims to sell Brooks stair lifts but Brooks no nothing of this man or of STEPS, the organisation he claims to represent. He may come from the Doncaster area.
He claims not to be selling anything but then asks for money to pay for a stair lift otherwise you may fall down and kill yourself. He won't provide any leaflets or any written quotation.
