Ruddy Screwfix!

I'm sitting here, having taken the day off work after being promised delivery of my entire new kitchen by Screwfix. And what have I ended up with? Just 3 end panels (one damaged) and 4 unit doors. I've phoned them and am now waiting for their supplier (BGH - Bernstein Group) to ring me back.
Feel like banging my head against a brick wall - I just KNEW this would happen!
Anyone else had problems with Screwfix or their suppliers?
I'm going to take to hard drink in a minute

I had a problem with them once on supply of parts to refurb my whole central heating system. Rads and other bits were missing from a delivery.
I was a bit miffed but i have to say they were superb in sorting it out and getting the bits to me. It turned out they had dispatched the parts but the courier had lost them.
I was constantly phoned with situation updates and when it was all sorted they gave me a £50 credit towards my next order as compensation without my even asking.
Bad situation yes, but i was very impressed with the level of customer service so i continue to use them.0 -
Thanks Alan; well I take it back - the balance of the delivery has just arrived and all looks OK, but what a waste of fuel and manpower to have 2 seperate deliveries (And I've now managed to block the village street off twice in one day!)"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

They did go through a phase of repeatedly messing me around. At one stage 2 orders out of every 3 presented a problem of some sort or other.
On one occasion they did the following with one order:
Delivered an incomplete rad
Delivered a batch of useless bath wastes
Sent Parcelforce to pick up returns, only parcelforce would not take them as the items were 3 metres long!
They did resolve all the problems and even sent me a replacement rad without wanting the old one back. I bought the bits I needed for the old one from B and Q for £3!
They also re arranged pick up of the goods to be returned via another courier. I received a credit for these items.
However this fiasco cost me so much time on the job that I sent a complete account of it to their MD.
I was promptly contacted by his staff to arrange a credit for the FULL ORDER AMOUNT (£160 odd), and keep the goods. As I had returned around £60 worth of stuff, and had been credited for this separately, they actually ended up crediting me with more than the cost of the order!
So, in the end I had received around £100 worth of goods free and been given an extra £60.
The bath wastes - SF contacted their manufacturer who asked me to return them direct to them. I received around 4 times as many wastes as I sent in and £20 in M and S vouchers for my trouble. The replacements were fine.
I suspect that they had suffered process problems in their factory. Their full report did not say otherwise.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Deliveries sometimes go wrong with Screwfix -bits missing, damaged etc. I have never known SF not to sort the problem out with the minimum fuss and delay. Excellent, honourable, decent company.0

I thought I'd just add that I phoned screwfix yesterday to make a return as I'd bought the wrong electrical earthing pack. The part was something like £5.30 and they refunded my card and said no need to return as it is under £10.
Not that I need the item as I have bought something more suitable, but impressed anyway!0 -
Hello Everyone
As there are so many good service comments about Screwfix (even though the thread started out as a rant;) ), I think that it would be better placed in The '5 star' Service board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
