Applying for a CC

I recently decided to apply for a 0% for 18 month CC (To use to pay of my Next account which is at 15.99% APR and has £600 outstanding on the account) and was rejected. Freaked out i have checked my credit report and found a fair few errors (hindsight I should have done this first!). I am in the process of getting these fied (see below) Would the end of March / beginning of April be a better time to apply or wait longer?

Here are the errors:

Loan Natwest - £155 outstanding This was actually paid off, Natwest are updating my credit report end of March

1 CCJ Active with Council This was satisfied in 2007 and i rang the court yesterday who removed it from the file

1 CCJ Active with Letting agent Satisfied in 2008 - Letting agent is refusing to remove from my file - Court will be getting a letter from me on Thursday, Court have informed me if no contact from the letting agent within 14 days the court will automatically remove the CCJ (even if letting agent does getb in touch it is satisfied annyway)

Catalogue account £0 outstanding I paid this off - It was a studio account - Do i need to ask them to remove it?

Financial link with ex I've asked credit file people to remove this

On the electrol roll, but not on the edited version HUH??

Next account finances outstanding CORRECT!

Now, I dont want the CC to have a spending spree - I solely want it to pay off the next account (I'm paying minumum of £50 a month so it will take me a year to pay off) so I will be able to pay the CC back in full long before the 18 months are up.

So whaqt do you guys think - Will the end of march be ideal when the files are all up to date or do i need to wait a bit longer? Next payment on next is due 13th April

Many thanks

The catalogue can stay as its settled.

It should all sort out for may.

Yes, I see this as more as a Positive than a Negative entry.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

  • You have almost nil chance of getting a 0% for 18months card with 2 CCJs -yes, they're satisfied, but still.

0% for 18months is fairly prime and your record isn't.

BTW are you sure the council said they removed the CCJ? Cos if you didn't pay in full within a month of its issuance it'll be there for the 6 years.

The Council cannot remove the CCJ if it was issued, only if it was an error can it disappear. It will then change to show 'Satisfied' but remain on file for 6 years by the CRA. (5 if you are in Scotland).

Exactly. I think you got the wrong end of the stick or they just said anything you wanted to fob you off.

Ah - the council told me that they had informed the court to remove the CCJ. When I asked the court they said they had updated it for me but couldnt do anything with the other CCJ as it was classed as still active.

The CC - What i want it for is to pay the next acc off. If i pay it at minimum rate then it will take a year to clear so was hoping to get a CC with at least a years 0% APR or even just a lower APR than next :D

(My loan was with my ex to pay off some of his debts - he paid the loan back but i needed to be on there because him alone wasnt enough to get credit - we both had the 2 CCJ's then and got £5k with a small APR - Cant remember exact figure now - so didnt think CC would be too hard to obtain now i *thought* my credit was sorted)

I thought if you had credit but never used it then it was a bad thing?

Thank you for all your replies
