Loan Insurance

Hi

I'm in need of a little help and would appreciate any advice that people have.

I've just taken out a £15k loan to finance a new car. The loan is through Barclays and obviously they have plugged their payment protection something rotten. I told them I didn't want it as it was £56 per month over 5 years. The documents came through and they had put it on. So I rang up to complain, they couldn't apologise enough and its now in the process of being reissued without it.

But what I'm wondering - is there any independent insurance policies out there which would cover such events as critical illness, redundancy (even though its not likely), etc but cheaper than the £56 per month that Barclays offered (which I thought was a huge amount).

Thanks in advance for any help!
