Tesco Home Delivery - Vent

Heads up, i just really want to vent.

I ordered a cat food from Tesco online to be delivered Friday evening, as a) it was cheaper, using vouchers i had, than going instore and b) i did not want to carry a lot of boxes of cat food in from the car if i went instore. Ok so i ordered 25 boxes (of 12 sachets), but with 3 cats that eat large amounts combined with a great 1/2 price offer on whiskers it seemed like the perfect solution. WRONG!

I was expecting a few subs if they could not cope with an order of 25, but i had been in there Thursday and they had huge amounts stacked by the door, in the pet food aisle and all over the store, obviously expecting it to be quite popular, or having lots of stock to get rid of.

However, when the delivery driver turnt up (i was in the bath at the time, typical that the driver turns up at the beginning of a delivery slot the one time you are not waiting to go out) my OH signed and took the bags, not paying attention as he was sidetracked and it's 'my department'. I was left to discover we had been given 4 boxes of 12 of another food - no problems there, but then 35 single sachets (some of which were in gravy when i specified jelly) and nothing else!
Since when is 83 sachets of food the same as 300 sachets of food?

It cost us virtually the same amount (it was £3.00 cheaper) but they had subbed single sachets for multipack boxes? And we had recieved less than a third of what we had actually ordered. I would rather they had phoned me to tell me thay could not fulfill the order so i could have cancelled it.

I was also hung up on when i first phoned customer services, the woman was rude and arrogant so i had asked to speak to somebody else - no reason to hang up the phone after leaving me on hold for 5 minutes. Now i am still waiting for a phone\call to sort this out after their computer systems were down friday evening and they couldn't do anything then - 5 days later.

Grrrr Tesco makes me angry!

Really you're more annoyed with your OH as they accepted the items.

Tesco provided you with substitutes as you indicated that on your on-line order but you didn't check what they offered was (in your opinion) acceptable. Perhaps they should have waited for you to finish your bath ?

    What a stupid comment.

Do you really think a Tesco delivery driver is going to wait for someone to finish her bath?

This is a praise VENT and warning forum. It's here for people to vent (amongst other things).

et al, then once you suggest they are wrong you're lynched for not respecting their views - your own don't count apparently just theirs and their rights. :)

Some of them just strol on to a thread and call you insulting names, and claim you have no manners yourself.

No... I totally agree with the OP post. It isn't acceptable for them to deliver such large quantities of a substitute, which won't really give you the saving you expected. They should have voided the product, or contacted you to check if ok.

Unlike the pixi, you do have an argument. Hers was that she didn't know what to do with a fish she bought and now wants to blame tesco.

Very sulky pixi, very sulky ! :rotfl:

Don't get me wrong, i was annoyed with him and he knew it! But, i've been able to sort it out with him in the last 5 days, however, i have not been able to do that with tesco.

Though next time i will remember to ask the driver to wait while i have a bath, wash my hair, wax my legs, do my eyebrows, do my make up and get dressed just so i can check that i was given what i ordered. (shame i promised next time and any other time we get any delivery i will not go for a bath during the allotted time slot) :rotfl:

Finally i have managed to sort this, a full week after getting the delivery! :j

Lovely person i spoke to ended up refunding part of my order, whilst we get to keep the cat food and other few bits we had ordered. Which overall seems fair. Although i have been given the run around by all their staff for the last 7days hanging around for phonecalls that never happened and supposed conversations with managers that never happened but it sure beats being down because they couldn't phone to check if the subs were ok.

Only thing is i forgot on the phone to ask if i would be able to get a price promise voucher for the whiskers food that was on offer backdated (as the offer has finished now). Slightly annoying in that had i got a refund issued last friday i could have gone to my local store and picked up some half price food using the money from the refund, but obviously now the offer has ended i can't. :(
