Best place for a cheap / second hand Bike

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere to get a cheap or second-hand bike.

I don't need anything amazing - it'd be mainly used on roads although a hybrid would probably be ideal. More for casual use than regular - if I got really into it then I'd have more knowledge and more inclination to spend more.

I'm happy to buy second hand although I'm concerned about a lot of them being nicked - anyone know any reputable places?

I live in South London and I'm self-employed so unfortunately the cycle to work scheme is out of the question!

Try Recycle in Elephant, I think it's still there.

Quite a few new bike shops also do second hand although usually only one or two decent ones taken in on part-exchange. De Ver in Streatham/Norbury (almost certainly at the posh end of 2nd hand) and Apex on Clapham High St, for example. There's a community maintenance and maybe sales place in SE1.
