Do the banks not mind you doing this??
They don't seem to I have been doing this now since January and really notice a difference, some days I do as little as £1 if it's close to payday and money is a bit tight. Some people think it's just a £1 what difference is that going to make...but by then end of the month you would easily have paid off at east another £30 including your minimum payment without in noticing...highly recommended!! :j:jCleared £5k debt in 2015 (SO FAR)

Wow £60 for a haircut?
Here is what life has taight me about haircuts. Especially for blokes.
I was like you, spending loads of money on haircuts. Until i realised i dont have the money to fund this ridiculous cost. Its all about mental strength. You need to have the strength to say NO to yourself, and to talk yourself into thinking that a change will be alright. I used to have a great barber too. But when youre paying £50-60 a haircut, theyre all fantastic.
In the end, I let my hair grow out a little and while this hair was growing this is what i did. (and continue to do when i move around)
I either go into a built up area and ask the locals, or i do a search on local hair cutting businesses and wait until evenings or weekends and i will check out any of the barber shops closer to me.
If theyre busy and have young people, i will check out prices and i will get my haircut there.
Young people are very fussy and go along on word of mouth. If the place is busy with young people. believe me that the place is going to be good.
Ive been doing this since 5 years and have never paid in excess of £5 for a haircut. My hair looks fantastic and you cant tell the difference from a £50 cut to a £5 cut. All the bad stuff its all in the head.
The last place I went to, you have to make a booking a month in advance to get a barbers shave thats how busy he was. The guy gave the full treatment, facial mask, wash, scrub and shave and haircut all for £15 and it really is a mans experience!
Take a good hard look at yourself. Its time to get real.0 -
Are any of your current debts taken out before April 2007!?
If so, you can apply to have the debt unenforced.
I would write to the companies and ask if they can supply under a section 78 for a true signed copy of your credit agreements.
If they cant supply one with 12 days it becomes unenforceable and you can argue the debt is invalid.
Other then that if your debt is around £10,000 and you have an income leftover of just £50 a month you may be eligible to apply for what is called a Debt Relief Order
This is a form of bankcruptcy but is not as severe, it will be on your credit file for 6 years, but you can still have a basic bank account.
You need to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau for this; you go on the Insolvency Register for 12 months, and in that time, you stop paying ALL debts, and are protected from harassment from your creditors.
After 12 months, you are then completely debt free, as all registered debt are written off!!
I am thinking of applying one for myself!!0 -

This is not quite right. You can request for a £1 postal order a CCA from your creditor however they don't have to supply a true signed copy, a reconstituted agreement is acceptable. It also doesn't become unenforced after 12 days. If the ceditor can't supply the CCAin 12+2 days, the account is in default and can't be enforce until such time that the CCA is supplied. If yuo are trying to go down the route of UE (unenforcable), you should be aware that you most likely end up with defaults and you will have to have the nerve to see this through for 6 years (non payment) until it drops off your credit file and becomes SB. I would really just go down that route if you are sure your CCA is UE and as a last resort.
There is scope in your SOA for savings and to pay back the debts. Any of the above will srew your credit file for 6 years.LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015

This isn't a good option for me as, worst case scenario, I'll be paid off in 3 years!0 -
Well done for trying to tackle the debt.
Going back to the haircut dilemma, I have both sympathy and a possible solution. It is great to have a good haircut, after all we wear it all day, every day. But I also live in the London area and understand the ridiculous prices so i have changed my approach. I ask my hairdresser to give me a cut that can grow but still stay in shape. It starts on the shorter side, around my jaw line and after a 3 or four months is still in shape and looking good but now down towards my shoulders. This means a £50 spend every 4/5 months rather than every month. The hair grows and changes my look over the time and hey presto I can start again a few months later with another shorter style that will do the same again. Saves money.
Kind regards

I used to do this, but now I have dry and split ends by the end of the 2 months. Would be hideous if I waited longer
