well, I didn't expect quite such a strong reaction!

First of all, I apologise to the OP for hijacking the thread, but I think Marybelle you are overreacting a tad maybe. Yes, there probably are an awful lot of people called Mary Bell out there in the world, and there are probably people called Peter Sutcliffe as well, but it's the first time I've come across anyone with that name on an internet forum. If you think I'm a bad person for being aware of the Mary Bell story and seeing the likeness of your chosen pseudonym that's your prerogative. I didn't post anything with the intention of being harsh or unpleasant or impolite to you, but I don't think I'll be apologising for anything either. Marybelle (or whatever it is a contraction of) is a perfectly nice name, in the same way that any other name is, but it does have the connection to a "notorious" murder case. Maybe other people are more polite than I am, but you could do with toning down your attitude a little bit as well.

How dare you lecture me after comparing me to a child killer? You were the one who started this by saying that it was an "interesting" choice, as if there was some kind of ulterior motive to my choice of name. You asked a question, and although I didn't see it was any of your business I was polite enough to respond. So you post a link and nothing else. How did you think someone would take being linked to a child murderer? Perhaps you don't have the manners to apologise. That says all I need to know about you.

Quite apart from the fact that this may have been a legitimate and declared gift - such things do exist; and the fact that this is ONE alleged minor event and not a series of "backhanders" as you implied; are you aware of the fact that you have just said enough here to identify the individual concerned, and possibly yourself - and spreading confidential information over a public website isn't whistleblowing, it is a dismissable offence.
